Self-Employed & Contractor

We have extensive experience with self-employed clients, from new and experienced sole traders to limited company directors. Speaking to a broker can be particularly advantageous as not all mortgage lenders treat self-employed clients with the same criteria.

Limited company directors, for example, most commonly need to rely on their salary and dividend income for affordability purposes. There are providers who will allow for share of net profit to be used instead, which may well improve your borrowing position. A more limited number of lenders will also now accept as little as one year’s self-employed history.

The same goes for contract workers. Although there have been legislative changes in this area, we assist clients in finding a suitable lender by navigating lending criteria in respect of contract value, level of experience, and future plans.
